Virgin Atlantic: Up to 70% Bonus When Buying Miles – From 1.03 cpm (+ Redemption Sweet Spots)

The Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is not a program we cover regularly here—at least outside of the occasionally offered status match. However, despite some recent devaluations, the program still offers several sweet spots. Therefore, it can indeed be worthwhile to buy Virgin miles.

At the regular price, this is not a good deal, but bonus offers are available regularly. Currently, a bonus of up to 70% is offered. However, the best price is only achieved when purchasing at least 212,500 miles (125,000 + 87,500 bonus) at once. In that case, you pay only about 1.03 euro cents per mile.

Below, we have listed several redemption sweet spots. These are mostly limited to Economy and Premium Economy Class. Unfortunately, there are almost no attractive options for long-haul Business Class (or they are less appealing due to a lack of availability or high fuel surcharges).

Buy Miles with a 70% Bonus

The current offer for buying miles is valid until July 7, 2026. Depending on the number of miles purchased, you will receive a bonus of between 20% and 70%.

This brings you to the following best-case prices (calculated based on the total miles including the bonus):

• 6,000 to 46,800 miles: 20% bonus (from 1.487 cents per mile)
• 56,000 to 110,600 miles: 40% bonus (from 1.258 cents per mile)
• 128,000 to 198,400 miles: 60% bonus (from 1.096 cents per mile)
• 212,500 to 340,000 miles: 70% bonus (from 1.028 cents per mile)

A one-time transaction fee of £15 (~€17) applies per purchase. This is already included in the mile prices listed above.

A 14-day right of withdrawal applies (provided none of the miles have been redeemed yet). After that, no refunds or reversals are possible. On the plus side, Virgin miles do not expire.

Redemption Examples

There are still numerous sweet spots in the Virgin Atlantic award chart. For instance, short-haul flights with KLM and Air France in Economy (from 4,000 miles) and Business Class (from 8,000 miles) are highly interesting. However, long-haul routes in all travel classes can also be worthwhile.

Below are a few examples—with the effective price in parentheses if you purchased the miles beforehand for 1.03 cents each.
