A few weeks ago, we highlighted a business class offer from Turkmenistan Airlines: with a layover in Ashgabat, you can fly in a lie-flat seat from Frankfurt to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for less than €1,400. The airline is also selling one-way tickets at highly competitive rates, starting from just €612 from Beijing to Frankfurt, and from €706 in the opposite direction from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur.
According to the airline’s website, a total of 46 kg of baggage is included. This likely refers to the combined allowance of carry-on and checked luggage. Please note that Turkmenistan Airlines is a dry airline (no alcohol is served on board).
Flights departing from Asia are only bookable directly on the airline’s website, as they do not appear on popular aggregators like Google Flights or Skyscanner. Below are sample prices for both directions:

According to Google Flights, Turkmenistan Airlines uses a Boeing 777 on all legs. However, there are significant differences within the fleet. The airline acquired the 777-300s with registrations EZ-A781 and EZ-A782 from Cathay Pacific. In business class, you can expect 40 reverse herringbone seats of the type Safran Cirrus II (1-2-1 configuration). However, they also operate 777-200s with 28 business class seats. Unfortunately, these can be described as outdated. While they do have lie-flat seats, the configuration is 2-3-2, similar to Turkish Airlines. According to Flightradar, the airline rotates the aircraft on all routes quite frequently.
If you speak German or use your browser’s translation feature, you can read a detailed review of Turkmenistan Airlines’ business class on the Vielfliegertreff forum. The route and seats were the same as in this deal. The review is quite an adventure, describing broken seats alongside children being invited into business class because the cabin was mostly empty. However, the service and food were praised.
A visa is not required for a layover at Ashgabat Airport as long as you do not leave the transit zone and avoid entering Turkmenistan. Your scheduled layover must be less than 24 hours.
Search & Book
We do not have access to the fare rules for this offer, so it is unclear how long these discounted fares will remain bookable. Availability exists for travel dates through March 2027.
You can easily locate dates from Germany using Google Flights if you are traveling to Malaysia. The other connections are not displayed in the calendar preview. These flights only operate on Wednesdays, so there is no need to check other weekdays.
Flights returning to Germany rarely appear on Google Flights, and even Skyscanner misses many dates. In this case, we recommend searching directly on the airline’s website. The booking interface is simple: you can switch dates with a single click and the results update instantly.

No Miles
Unfortunately, mileage accrual is not possible on Turkmenistan Airlines flights.
