Thailand Railay Beach Krabi

Thailand is a destination that truly has it all: the chaotic but mesmerizing energy of Bangkok, world-class street food, ancient temples in Chiang Mai, and some of the most beautiful islands on the planet. It offers the perfect introduction to Southeast Asia: warm hospitality, incredible value for money, and a infrastructure that makes traveling between its lush jungles and white-sand beaches remarkably easy. We actually published a detailed guide on Thailand a short while ago.

If you are planning your escape to the “Land of Smiles,” we want to get you there as cheaply and comfortably as possible. We’ve filtered through the clutter to find options with no hidden baggage fees, reasonable layovers, and quality service, whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly economy seat, a lie-flat bed in business class, or something in between.

Economy Class

When we’re talking about cheap, economy class is obviously the way to go. However, what so often seems cheap, nowadays comes with downsides like long layovers or having 0 baggage allowance. This is why the following options, all fulfill the following criteria:

  • No long layovers, so you get there quickly
  • Prices including luggage and board service, so that the price is actually the final price
  • Alliance members, so you can enjoy priority services and lounge access with your status
  • No prices higher than €700, so you don’t overpay for the convenience

So, these are the cheapest options to fly to Thailand from Europe:

Oman Air for €491 from Milan & Amsterdam

Oman Air is currently selling very cheap to Bangkok from Amsterdam and Milan. Booking through Trip.com, the price lays at only €461, including 20 kg of luggage. It’s a red-eye flight to Muscat, followed by a 6-hour flight to Bangkok. On the way back, it’s two daytime flights. All flights are operated with a Boeing 787.

Cheap points of departure:

Availability: May and June 2026

Lufthansa & SWISS Starting at €538 (€458 without Luggage)

Star Alliance partners Lufthansa and SWISS are selling tickets for only €458. However, their cheapest fare does not include luggage, so the price goes up to at least €538 if you want that 23 kg baggage allowance. Lufthansa uses an Airbus A350 from Munich while SWISS uses a Boeing 777.

Cheap points of departure:

Availability: May, June, and September 2026

Turkish Airlines Starting at €560

Turkish Airlines offers tickets to Bangkok for €560, including 30 kg of luggage. You can choose between departing around noon and arriving early morning, or departing in the evening and arriving in the afternoon.

Cheap points of departure:

Availability: May and September 2026

Ethiopian for €574 from Athens

Ethiopian is offering cheap tickets to Bangkok from Athens. The ticket includes 2 x 23 kg of luggage and costs €574. First, you’ll fly 5 hours to Addis Ababa onboard a Boeing 737 MAX, then the trip continues on a Boeing 787 (with generous legroom) for 9 hours to Bangkok. It’s a red-eye flight in both directions.

Availability: Until May 2026

Finnair Starting at €638 (€558 without Luggage)

Oneworld member Finnair sells it tickets to Bangkok for as little as €558. Only Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald members would get luggage for free. All others need to pay at least €638 for the fare including 23 kg of luggage. You’ll fly to Helsinki in the morning and then depart from there in the early afternoon, arriving in Bangkok the next morning after spending 11 hours in an Airbus A350. The flight back departs in the early morning, and is thus a daytime flight.

Cheap points of departure:

  • Riga: €638 (€558 w/o luggage)
  • Tallinn: €674 (€594 w/o luggage)
  • Brussels: €693 (€583 w/o luggage)

Availability: June and September 2026

Other Alliance Airlines

Here are some more options, that are all perfectly fine, but we didn’t discuss in full detail due to e.g. low availability, the unstable situation in the Middle East, or some other factor. They may very vell be interesting, though:

  • Saudi Arabian Airlines: e.g. €495 from London
  • Vietnam Airlines: e.g. €497 from Milan
  • Shenzhen: e.g. €528 from Barcelona
  • KLM & Air France: e.g. €627 from Madrid (€512 w/o luggage)
  • Royal Jordanian: e.g. €644 from Rome
  • Thai Airways: e.g. €651 from Milan
  • SAS: e.g. €682 from Oslo (€610 w/o luggage)
  • LOT: e.g. €723 from Nice (€663 w/o luggage)

Premium Economy

For premium economy class, the same rules apply (luggage included, short layovers & alliance members). We set the price limit at €1,300. Anything higher than that doesn’t make much sense, in our opinion.

We were able to find at least one cheap option for each alliance:

Lufthansa, Austrian & SWISS Starting at €973

This one is a really good deal. It’s been valid for quite some time, but that doesn’t make it any worse. The Lufthansa Group airlines will fly you to Bangkok from a whole bunch of European cities throughout the entire year. Prices start at €973.

Cheap points of departure:

We went into more detail for this deal:

Vietnam Airlines for €1,088 from Paris

This is another recurring deal on our website. From Paris, Vietnam Airlines will fly you to Bangkok (and some other South East Asian destinations) for under €1,100. The fare also includes 2x 23 kg of luggage. It’s available year-round, except in July. However, the availability is higher in the first half of the year than in the second.

We went into more detail for this deal:

Finnair Starting at €1,097 (€1,013 without Luggage)

Finnair also offers cheap tickets to Bangkok, however, their cheapest fare does not include checked luggage. The fare that includes 23 kg of luggage increases the price from NOK 11,317 (~€1,012) to NOK 12,259 (~€1,097). That makes this offer quite a bit worse than the Lufthansa Group. The fact that it’s mostly available from Northern Europe also doesn’t help. For Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald members, though, who can book the cheapest fare and still get free luggage, this is an interesting deal.

Cheap points of departure:

Availability: Year-round, except summer holidays

Other Alliance Airlines

With that, we’ve presented you the cheapest premium economy option for each alliance. These are the remaining interesting options, that might interest you:

  • Air France & KLM: e.g. €1,135 from Madrid (€975 w/o Luggage)
  • Scandinavian Airlines: e.g. €1,157 from London
  • EVA Air: e.g. €1,479 from Amsterdam (non-stop)

Business Class

For business class, the same rules apply (short layovers & alliance members), plus we added that lounge access has to be included. We set the price limit at €2,200. Anything higher than that doesn’t make much sense, in our opinion.

Sadly, only few airlines offer business class tickets to Thailand that fulfil these criteria: Air India, Turkish Airlines, Finnair, and Saudia. SWISS and SAS sometimes do, but currently that seems hard to find. If these options aren’t appealing to you, we’d recommend entering our Whatsapp or Telegram groups for business class tickets:

Air India for €1,683 from Copenhagen

Star Alliance member Air India is currently selling the cheapest business class tickets to Bangkok. The price starts at merely €1,683 from Copenhagen. The ticket consists of a 9-hour red-eye flight to Delhi, in a Boeing 787 with lie-flat seats. From there, you’ll have a 4-hour flight in recliners, onboard an Airbus A320neo. The trip back is the same, but it’s day-time all the way.

Availability:

Turkish Airlines for €1,979 from Oslo & Helsinki

Turkish Airlines is sending it’s new business class seats to Bangkok, and only charging €1,979 for you to sit in them if you depart from Northern Europe. The ticket directly includes 40 kg of luggage. You’ll sit in recliners on the feeder flights within Europe.

Cheap points of departure:

Availability:

Finnair for €2,145 from Warsaw (€1,846 without Lounge & Luggage)

Finnair is selling business class tickets, including 2 x 32 kg of luggage and lounge access for PLN 9,091 (~€2,145) from Warsaw. Now, that’s an accepable price but nothing we would usually choose as a standout option. However, Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald members can book the Light fare for PLN 7,822 (~€1,846) and fly with (less) luggage and lounge access. And that’s a really great price.

Availability:

Other Alliance Airlines

Those were the three business class deals that we considered the most attractive. We also had business class flights with SWISS and SAS on our radar, but while Google Flights shows prices of ~€1,900 for both airlines, their websites jump to ~€2,200 when selecting the dates. Overall, both were too shaky to include them. Maybe you have better luck, trying yourself.

Another option that caught our eye is this one:

Saudia for €1,772

Price-wise, this could be considered the best deal. You get lie-flat seats on all segments, and except for alcohol, all the usual business class perks are included. Merely the current situation in the Middle East dampend our excitement. According to the fare rules, all flights need to take place between March 29 and May 18.

First Class

We promissed “All Travel Classes” in the headline, but to be honest, there is nothing remotely recommendable in first class. Tickets are roughly at the €6,000 mark, which we find a waste of money.
