In early April 2027, the majestic four-masted tall ship Star Clipper sets sail on a genuine ocean crossing from Antigua via the Azores to Malaga, Spain. Over the course of 20 nights (21 days), guests experience the traditional art of tall-ship sailing across the Atlantic. Inside cabins start at €2,725 per person, while oceanview cabins are available from €3,525 per person (based on double occupancy). Solo travelers can book an inside cabin from €3,745. Full board dining is included.
Because authentic tall ships navigate primarily by wind power and travel at relaxed speeds, this voyage is truly for sailing enthusiasts: the itinerary features 18 full days at sea and just one port of call (in the Azores) before arriving in southern Spain.

The Route
The journey embarks on April 3, 2027, in St. John’s, Antigua. Leaving the Caribbean behind, the Star Clipper heads northeast across the open Atlantic Ocean for 12 consecutive days under sail. On April 16, the vessel reaches Ponta Delgada on the volcanic island of São Miguel in the Azores, offering a welcome landfall to explore crater lakes and lush botanical gardens.
After departing the Azores, six further days of ocean sailing follow before passing through the Strait of Gibraltar to reach Malaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol, where the crossing concludes on April 23, 2027.

The Ship
The Star Clipper was completed in 1992 at the Scheepswerven van Langerbrugge shipyard in Ghent, Belgium. Measuring 111 meters in length and 15 meters in width, the authentic four-masted barquentine spans 4 passenger decks and accommodates up to 170 guests served by 70 crew members. Under full sail, the ship unfurls 16 sails covering 3,300 m² (35,500 sq ft) from masts reaching 63 meters high, achieving sailing speeds of up to 17 knots. For harbor maneuvers and calm waters, two Caterpillar diesel engines provide auxiliary propulsion.
Life on deck centers around traditional seamanship and maritime romance. Amenities include two outdoor swimming pools, an expansive teak sun deck with loungers, an elegant single-seating dining room, the convivial open-air Tropical Bar, an Edwardian-style library with an ornamental fireplace, a ship’s boutique, and massage wellness treatments.
The onboard atmosphere is relaxed and international, with crew members communicating fluently in English, German, and French. The official onboard currency is the Euro (EUR), and the vessel is registered in Valletta, Malta.
