The Route

Your journey begins in Buenos Aires, where a transfer brings you to your pre-cruise hotel. The following morning, a domestic charter flight transports you south to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city nestled between the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel, where you board the SH Vega.

Setting sail, the yacht navigates the dramatic channels of Tierra del Fuego toward the Pia and Garibaldi glaciers within Chile’s UNESCO-protected Alberto de Agostini National Park. The next day brings a milestone passage around mythical Cape Horn, where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans converge.

After visiting Argentina’s wild, forested Isla de los Estados—home to thriving Magellanic and rockhopper penguin colonies—the ship sets a course for the Falkland Islands. Here you will spend several days exploring remote coastal sanctuaries: Barren Island, Bleaker Island’s bird reserves, the historic capital of Port Stanley, Carcass Island, West Point Island, and the extensive sandy shores of Pebble Island.

At Saunders Island, you will have the chance to observe gentoo, king, and rockhopper penguins nesting along the headlands, alongside colonies of black-browed albatrosses. Following two days at sea, you call at Puerto Madryn on the Argentine coast, renowned for its marine mammal habitats. Two final relaxing days at sea allow you to enjoy the luxury amenities onboard before disembarking in Montevideo, Uruguay’s historic capital.

The Ship

The Ship

The SH Vega was built in 2022 at the renowned Helsinki Shipyard in Finland and named after the historic 19th-century barque Vega—the first vessel to successfully navigate the Arctic Northeast Passage. Measuring 114 meters in length and 24 meters in width, the boutique luxury vessel accommodates a maximum of 152 guests alongside 117 crew members, providing a near 1:1 service ratio.

Engineered specifically for navigating remote polar waters, the ship features a Polar Class PC5 ice-strengthened hull and oversized zero-speed stabilizer fins. For off-ship landings in untouched inlets and wildlife sanctuaries, the vessel carries a fleet of rigid Zodiac expedition craft. With just 152 guests onboard, landing logistics are swift and seamless, allowing maximum time ashore without the crowding common on larger expedition vessels.

Onboard amenities combine authentic polar exploration with 5-star Scandinavian-inspired luxury. Facilities include an outdoor heated swimming pool and grill, an observation lounge with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, an expansive spa featuring a glass-fronted Finnish sauna and jacuzzi, a modern fitness center, and gourmet international dining venues.

The primary onboard language is English, and the onboard currency is the US Dollar (USD). Any incidental purchases during your voyage can be settled at disembarkation using all major credit cards or in cash.
