The Route

Your journey begins in Buenos Aires with an included hotel overnight stay. The following morning, a domestic charter flight whisks you south to Ushuaia at the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego, where you embark aboard the SH Minerva.

After crossing the South Atlantic, your first expedition calls bring you to the Falkland Islands, visiting West Point Island, Saunders Island (famous for nesting black-browed albatrosses and rockhopper penguin rookeries), and the historic capital of Port Stanley.

Following two sea days, the ship arrives in South Georgia, frequently called the “Galapagos of the Poles.” You will spend four full days exploring this sub-Antarctic wildlife paradise, home to sprawling colonies of hundreds of thousands of king penguins, massive southern elephant seals, and fur seals. You will also visit Grytviken, the historic Norwegian whaling station where Sir Ernest Shackleton is buried.

The voyage continues south toward the Antarctic Peninsula, where five days are dedicated to exploring glaciated bays, navigating iceberg-filled sounds, and making guided landings among gentoo and chinstrap penguin colonies (weather permitting, optional snowshoeing excursions are also offered). The expedition concludes with a crossing back to Ushuaia, followed by your return charter flight to Buenos Aires.

The Ship

The SH Minerva was built in 2021 at the Helsinki Shipyard in Finland and designed specifically for cruising in polar regions. Measuring 115 meters in length and 23 meters in width, the boutique luxury vessel accommodates a maximum of 152 guests alongside 120 crew members, providing an exceptional staff-to-guest ratio.

Equipped with a Polar Class PC5 ice-strengthened hull and zero-speed stabilizers, the vessel offers high comfort even in heavy seas. For off-ship explorations, the ship carries a fleet of rigid inflatable Zodiac craft. Because there are only 152 passengers onboard, shore landings in Antarctica and South Georgia proceed quickly without the long waiting times experienced on larger vessels.

Onboard amenities include a heated outdoor swimming pool and grill, an observation lounge with panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, an expansive spa featuring a glass-fronted Finnish sauna and jacuzzi, a modern fitness center, and gourmet international dining venues.

The primary onboard language is English, and the onboard currency is the US Dollar (USD). Any incidental purchases during your voyage can be settled at disembarkation using all major credit cards or in cash.
