Loyalty program SAS EuroBonus and statusmatch.com are currently offering a paid status match from Oneworld program British Airways Club. Tier holders with residence in an EU country or the United Kingdom can apply. Depending on the beginning of your membership year, you can get up to two years of SkyTeam Elite Plus status out of it, when paying a one-time fee of €159. There is no word on how long this status match will be available.
All members with frequent flyer status in the British Airways Club are eligible to participate. However, it costs:
- €39 for EuroBonus Silver (= SkyTeam Elite, from BA Bronze or Silver)
- €79 for EuroBonus Gold (= SkyTeam Elite Plus from BA Silver or Gold)
- €159 for EuroBonus Diamond (= SkyTeam Elite Plus from BA Gold)
You can apply for the match on the following website:

Eligible Tiers
Neither Scandinavian Airlines nor statusmatch.com specify how long this offer will remain available. It is only stated that the offer may be terminated at any time.
The matching works as follows:
British Airways Club Bronze → EuroBonus Silver (SkyTeam Elite)
British Airways Club Silver → EuroBonus Silver / Gold (SkyTeam Elite Plus)
British Airways Club Gold → EuroBonus Gold / Diamond (SkyTeam Elite Plus)
BA Silver and BA Gold members theoretically have a choice of which status they want. However, the website only offers EuroBonus Gold to BA Silver members and EuroBonus Diamond to BA Gold members. If, for example, a BA Gold member only wants EuroBonus Gold, they would likely have to “misrepresent” their status and claim to hold only BA Silver.
Status Validity & Extension
After a successful status match, your EuroBonus status is valid:
- For the remainder of the current qualification year
- an additional 12 months
- presumably another 2 months (this is usually the case, but not officially stated for the status match)
This makes the match particularly attractive if your qualification year has just begun, as you could secure status for up to two years.
With SAS EuroBonus, each member has an individual membership year that is not tied to the calendar year. The exact validity therefore depends on your SAS account.
Editor’s Note: While we have seen a number of paid status matches from SkyTeam airlines over the past, this is one of the best. It is the least restrictive (people from any EU country and the UK can apply), one of the cheapest (Vietnam Airlines charges a ridiculous €310 for Elite Plus) and the status is potentially valid for a longer time.
Status Benefits
Even Silver status already provides an additional baggage allowance on all SkyTeam airlines. The more interesting perks begin with Gold status, including lounge access and more. Below is an overview of the key benefits:
EuroBonus Silver
Normally requires 20,000 base points or 10 SAS flights within 12 months:

- 25% more award miles
- Upgrade bids are 10% more valuable
SkyTeam Elite benefits:
- 1 additional piece of checked baggage
- Preferred / free seat selection (depending on airline)
- Priority check-in & boarding
The website lists the ability to gift SAS status to 1 or 2 other people (from EuroBonus Gold) as a status benefit. However, according to the Scandinavian Airlines website, this is only possible if the status has been earned through the required segments or points. You should therefore not rely on this benefit.

Application Process
You can apply for the status match via the promotional page. Behind it is statusmatch.com, a provider of many similar campaigns. This also means that a participation fee is required.
First, you need to provide your first and last name, email address, EuroBonus number, and country of residence. You will then be asked to specify which status you currently hold with the British Airways Club. This must be verified with a screenshot or photo.

In the next step, you proceed to payment of the €39 (Silver), €79 (Gold), or €159 (Diamond) fee. Payment is only possible by credit or debit card.

After that, your application will be reviewed, and you should receive a response within a few days. Following approval, it may take up to 10 business days for the status to be credited.
