The Ship
The Norwegian Sun was laid down in 2000 at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, and entered service for Norwegian Cruise Line in 2001. Despite over two decades of service, the vessel remains in good condition thanks to continuous maintenance and extensive refurbishments (most recently in 2018).
Accommodating just under 2,000 passengers with a length of 258 meters, the Norwegian Sun is a classic mid-sized vessel built to Panamax dimensions, allowing it to navigate the original, historic locks of the Panama Canal. A convenient perk resulting from its construction in a German shipyard: cabins feature standard European power outlets alongside US plugs.
The traditional open-air deck features two swimming pools, five whirlpools, and the popular Great Outdoors terrace at the stern, providing expansive wake views. Dining options comprise 14 different restaurants and casual eateries, spanning complimentary dining rooms and a variety of specialty venues.
The primary onboard language is English. The onboard currency is the US Dollar (USD), and your onboard folio can be conveniently settled at the end of the cruise using major credit cards or in cash.

Flights & Getting There
The cruise begins and concludes in Miami, Florida. Round-trip transatlantic flights during the peak Christmas and New Year period typically start around €700 to €900 (including checked baggage). We recommend arriving in South Florida at least one day before embarkation to protect against winter weather flight disruptions.
