The Route
The journey sets sail from Miami on December 4, 2026. Following two days at sea to explore the ship’s amenities, you arrive in historic Cartagena, Colombia. Its UNESCO-listed colonial walled city and cobblestone streets are easily explored on foot.
On December 8, the ship calls at Colón, Panama, offering excursions to the Gatún Locks and surrounding rainforests. After crossing into the Pacific Ocean, your next stop is Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica—a natural gateway to rainforest canopies, volcanic landscapes, and wildlife reserves. The voyage continues north to Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, where popular day trips take you to the Spanish-colonial gem of Antigua Guatemala under the shadow of surrounding volcanoes.
The Mexican leg of the voyage features iconic stops in Acapulco (famous for its La Quebrada cliff divers), Puerto Vallarta with its bustling beachside Malecón, and Cabo San Lucas, renowned for the striking El Arco rock formation. Following one final relaxing sea day, the Norwegian Star docks in San Diego on December 20, 2026.

The Ship
The Norwegian Star was built in 2001 and last renovated in 2021. The ship is 294 meters long and 32 meters wide, accommodating around 2,300 passengers in 1,174 cabins. It has a maximum speed of 23 knots.
Onboard, there are 13 restaurants (some with additional charges) and 11 bars and lounges. Norwegian’s dining experience is slightly above average compared to other major cruise lines, with a more American-style cuisine.
