The price includes your meals in the main dining rooms and the buffet, plus basic drinks like coffee, tea, and water during buffet hours. Most of the ship’s facilities, like the gym, pools, and evening theater shows, are also included in the fare.

Important

Norwegian Cruise Line adds an automatic service charge of 20 US Dollars per person, per day to your bill on the ship.

If you live in Europe, we recommend booking through Travel-Dealz, and if you live in the USA, book via CruiseDirect, as long as the price difference is not significant. If the difference is considerable, you can choose the cheaper option, but keep in mind that the consumer guarantees are different for Americans and Europeans.

Route

The trip starts in Miami. After you leave the port, you spend the first seven days at sea crossing the Atlantic. This is a full week to enjoy the ship amenities before you hit land again.

The first stop is Ponta Delgada in the Azores. After that, you have two more days at sea while the ship moves toward mainland Europe. You will then spend a few days stopping at different ports in Spain: first Cadiz, then Motril (which is the stop for Granada), followed by Ibiza and Alicante. The cruise ends on the 16th day when you pull into Barcelona.

Visa Info

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.

There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.

The Ship

The Norwegian Pearl was built in 2006 and renovated in 2021. It is about 294 meters long and can carry nearly 2,400 passengers. There are 16 different places to eat on board. The buffet and main restaurants are included, but there are also specialty spots like a steakhouse or French bistro if you want to pay extra.

For entertainment, there is a bowling alley, a nightclub, and nightly shows in the theater. The main language on the ship is English, and they use US Dollars for all the pricing on board. The easiest way to pay for things is to link a credit card to your room account.

Getting There

Because the cruise starts in Miami and ends in Barcelona, you will need a one-way flight to Florida, we recommend you to flight at least one day before your cruise. You can find one-way flights from Europe to Miami for around €370 with luggage with TAP Air Portugal, if you want to fly with Skyteam for around €50 more you can find one ways with Air Europa via Madrid.
