The Route
The cruise begins in Ravenna. The port city is located in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna and is renowned for its early Christian Byzantine mosaics, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lively Piazza del Popolo forms the heart of the old town. The ship departs from the port in the late afternoon.
After a day at sea, you reach the first port of call. Valletta, Malta boasts one of the world’s most beautiful natural harbours. Highlights include the Upper Barrakka Gardens, offering a fantastic panoramic view across the Grand Harbour. Afterwards, the journey continues to Alicante. The beachfront promenade is roughly a 15- to 20-minute walk away. A striking feature in the city is the pedestrian street Calle de las Setas, decorated with giant colourful cartoon mushrooms.
The final stop before the ocean crossing is Motril. The port serves as an ideal base for an excursion to the world-famous Moorish fortress of the Alhambra, located just under an hour’s drive away. Seven days at sea across the Atlantic follow. You can use this time to relax aboard the Norwegian Pearl, enjoy the extensive entertainment programme featuring shows and live music, and indulge in the culinary offerings.

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€34) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
The Ship
The Norwegian Pearl was built in 2006 and renovated in 2021. It is about 294 meters long and can carry nearly 2,400 passengers. There are 16 different places to eat on board. The buffet and main restaurants are included, but there are also specialty spots like a steakhouse or French bistro if you want to pay extra.
For entertainment, there is a bowling alley, a nightclub, and nightly shows in the theater. The main language on the ship is English, and they use US Dollars for all the pricing on board. The easiest way to pay for things is to link a credit card to your room account.
