Lufthansa is significantly expanding its flight offerings to Thailand this winter. Instead of once daily (as previously planned), there will be two daily roundtrips between Munich and Bangkok operated by the Airbus A380 for several weeks. This is currently scheduled from January 16 to February 27, 2027.
The Airbus A380 has a total of 499 seats. Due to this temporary increase over the six-week period, more than 20,000 additional seats will go on sale. This move is likely also driven by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. In recent years, major passenger flows routed through Dubai, Doha, and similar hubs—options that many travelers are currently avoiding.
According to the current schedule, flight times are as follows:

The return flight is therefore operated during the day rather than overnight. In addition to Lufthansa, Thai Airways also flies on the same route once or twice daily.
Both Daily Flights with the New Business Class
Lufthansa is currently in the process of modernizing the cabin of its Airbus A380 fleet. As part of this upgrade, the business class cabin is shrinking from 78 to 68 seats but will feature significantly more modern Vantage XL seats in a 1-2-1 layout. At the moment, not all double-deckers have been retrofitted. However, the seat map shows the new product on both of the daily flights to Bangkok:
Overall, the product is a major upgrade—though there is a catch. Those who want to secure one of the real (and particularly private) window seats will have to pay. Furthermore, under the new business basic fare, all seat reservations incur a fee, even for frequent flyers with elite status.
Flights Already Bookable—But Not Cheap
Tickets for the second frequency are already on sale. Currently, the booking classes for these flights are wide open, offering better chances of finding cheaper fares on the new flights. economy class tickets start at €677 roundtrip (€777 with checked baggage):
However, business class fares are by no means competitive. Roundtrip tickets start at €3,700, whereas Thai Airways charges “just” under €3,000. business class award tickets for the A380 do not seem to be available for most dates (at least not yet).
