Allegris window Lufthansa Business

Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabin was initially only available on the Airbus A350 after its introduction in April 2024. That changed in October last year, when the first Dreamliner (Boeing 787) equipped with Allegris took off from Frankfurt. However, there was a major issue: because most of the Business Class seats were still not certified, Lufthansa was only able to sell 4 of the 28 seats per flight.

The blocking of most seats was recently extended from April to the end of June 2026. Now, however, there is some good news after all. As Lufthansa has announced, the blockage of most seats will be lifted from April 15, 2026. While the official approval from the U.S. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has not yet been granted, it is expected shortly.

Only three seats will remain blocked for the time being: 2K, 2E, and 2A, meaning two privacy seats by the window and the throne seat in the middle.

The Allegris Dreamliners are scheduled exclusively from Frankfurt. In the summer timetable, they will operate to Austin, Bogotá, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Hyderabad, Cape Town, and Shanghai. New York, Los Angeles, and Delhi will be added later.

Most Seats Come at a Cost

Until now, the four “lucky” passengers were able to reserve the suites free of charge, as there was no alternative. That will change with the release of the remaining seats. Only the 10 Classic Seats (shown in the image as 3C, 3D, 3H, 5C, 5G, 5H, 7C, 7D, 7H, 9H) can be selected free of charge by all passengers.

The remaining seats offer additional amenities such as more privacy, a window, and/or extra storage space. Lufthansa charges reservation fees between €100 and €170 for these. The suites in the first row even cost up to €600 extra. There are a few exceptions for status customers and passengers traveling as a couple.
