Travel-Dealz.de im Hilton Tokyo

Almost seven years ago, in May 2019, one of Germany’s most popular travel blogs started its English language subsidy, which you are currently reading. Since then, we shared numerous articles about flight deals, hotels, points promotions, cruises, trains and other forms to make travelling easier and cheaper.

It has always been our focus to present deals as detailed as possible. That reflects a high standard in terms of quality, with added elements such as maps, onboard product details, entry requirements, mileage information, and more. All of this takes time to research. As a result, not every deal we find makes it onto the homepage. On the one hand, our resources are limited. On the other, we want to avoid strong deals getting buried under too many niche offers with a very small target audience.

That being said, many of those deals are still worth sharing. This is why we introduced deals, that didn’t make it last summer: Presenting deals which probably garner little mainstream interest to a broader audience. The column will be discontinued and replaced by a new form of posting deals: the Travel-Dealz ticker.

Since this week, the ticker is prominently featured on the homepage. We are primarily using it to promote flight deals and, going forward, occasionally news as well. Because we have to manage our resources, this will result in fewer long-form flight deals than before.

How Does it Work?

One key goal was to preserve the chronological structure of the homepage. The ticker now occupies a single tile, while all other content remains sorted by publication date.

The ticker is only displayed if at least two new updates have been published within the last 24 hours. If you don’t see it during holidays or weekends, it simply means we haven’t actively used it. However, you can always access all ticker entries, regardless of age, via a dedicated page.

Within individual categories such as flights, business class, or cruises, ticker entries are also displayed alongside regular articles and clearly marked as such.

These short-form deals are also included in our email newsletter. They are also included in keyword alerts for specific deal searches.

The goal of these short posts is not to dilute our usual standards. Instead, they allow us to share deals that wouldn’t justify a full article due to their niche appeal or limited audience. Each post still includes a link to the offer, but you may need to do a bit of your own research, for example to find additional travel dates.
