The Route

While late October and early November bring gray skies to northern and central Europe, this itinerary lets you extend late summer along the Mediterranean. Your voyage departs from the Fusina cruise terminal on the mainland directly across from the historic heart of Venice.

Explora II sets sail at 18:00 and docks the following morning in Zadar, Croatia. Located on a picturesque peninsula, Zadar is celebrated for Roman forum ruins, the pre-Romanesque Church of St. Donatus, and the Sea Organ, an architectural sound installation played by the ocean waves.

Day 3 brings you to Dubrovnik. Stroll along the fully intact medieval stone walls, walk down the polished limestone Stradun, or take the cable car up Mount Srđ for panoramic views over the old town and the Adriatic Sea.

Next up is Corfu. Corfu Town’s UNESCO-listed historic center showcases Venetian fortresses, French-style arcades along the Liston, and neoclassical landmarks like Empress Sisi’s Achilleion Palace.

Following a relaxing sea day, you reach Volos at the foot of Mount Pelion. From here, you can wander through traditional stone villages or join an excursion to the awe-inspiring cliff-top monasteries of Meteora.

The next port of call is Thessaloniki, Greece’s vibrant second city. Highlights include the waterfront White Tower, the Arch of Galerius, the Rotunda, and UNESCO-protected Byzantine churches, paired with a renowned culinary scene.

After another sea day, the ship enters the Cyclades: on Mykonos, wander the whitewashed maze of Chora, photograph the iconic windmills, and enjoy the waterfront cafes of Little Venice.

The volcanic island of Milos follows, famous for colorful fishing settlements like Klima and the lunar-like white chalk cliffs of Sarakiniko Beach.

The final port of call is Nafplio in the Peloponnese, the first capital of modern Greece. The dramatic Palamidi Fortress towers above the town, and excursions lead to the ancient theater of Epidaurus or the ruins of Mycenae. On the morning of November 9, Explora II completes its voyage in Piraeus (Athens).
