A week ago, Lufthansa announced a new long-haul route to Kuala Lumpur. The airline is thus returning to Malaysia after a break of more than 10 years. While direct flights currently cost over €900, much cheaper fares are available when starting the trip in Luxembourg.
Round-trip flights are available from €484. By default, 8 kg of carry-on baggage plus a personal item are included. Frequent flyers with Star Alliance Gold status can also check one bag up to 23 kg free of charge even in the Light fare. Everyone else can book the Economy Basic fare starting from €564, which includes checked baggage.
If you like, you can also combine a Premium Economy outbound flight with an Economy return flight for €786 (including 23 kg baggage).
Availability runs from late October 2026 to February 2027. For booking on Lufthansa.com, you can use our form below. Cheap dates with stays of up to 28 days have been highlighted in green (for technical reasons not yet available for February 2027).

Feeder flights from Luxembourg to Frankfurt are usually operated by Air Dolomiti. Note that it is generally not possible to skip the feeder flight and only start the journey in Frankfurt. In theory there are now some exceptions, but the easiest approach remains to take the trip exactly as booked.
On the long-haul segment, Lufthansa uses the Boeing 787 Dreamliner equipped with the Allegris cabin. In Economy Class, you’ll find the usual 3-3-3 seating layout with 79 cm seat pitch, USB-C charging ports (no power outlet), and a 13-inch entertainment screen.
Most European passport holders can stay in Malaysia visa-free for up to 90 days.

You can find dates via the calendar above or by using Google Flights. Booking directly on Lufthansa’s website is recommended.

Editor’s Note: I flew to Kuala Lumpur with Lufthansa on one of their last flights ~10 years ago, and the plane was almost completely empty. Let’s see if their revival of the route works better this time. The fact that Middle Eastern airlines are currently not most people’s first choice anymore can certainly help. Lufthansa definitely seems to be a safer option for your holiday plans – literally.
