There is currently an interesting offer from the Swedish railways if you would like to explore the Scandinavian country by train. With the so-called Inlandsbanan, you can travel unlimited on all associated routes for 14 days. The rail pass is priced at SEK 2,645 (~€242).
This allows you to travel back and forth as you wish during the validity period on the approx. 1,300 km long route from Kristinehamn in the south to Gällivare in the north. The rail pass therefore mainly covers the interior of the country, so it does not apply to the entire Swedish rail network.
The rail pass can be extended for another week for SEK 600 (~€55). Seat reservations are not included. You can add these for your desired train for SEK 60 (~€5), which is also explicitly recommended, especially for midsummer. The pass can be used in the period from June 15 to August 12, 2026.
Two children up to 15 years old travel free of charge if accompanied by an adult. In addition, youths aged 16 to 25 receive a 25% discount. Seniors aged 65 and over get a 10% discount.

Route Network of the Inlandsbanan
The route network runs over approx. 1,300 km from Kristinehamn in the south to Gällivare in northern Sweden.

Is It Worth Buying?
Whether it is worth buying naturally depends primarily on how often you use this rail pass during its validity period. For comparison, we have listed the prices for one-way tickets on individual routes below as examples:
- Mora – Östersund: SEK 893 (~€82) on July 12, 2026
- Östersund – Gällivare: SEK 2,065 (~€189) on July 14, 2026
For these two routes, you would already pay a total of SEK 2,958 (~€271) on the specified dates. This already represents an additional cost of SEK 313 (~€29) compared to buying the rail pass.
Interrail Pass as an Alternative
If you only want to travel on the Inlandsbanan, this is a very attractive offer. For example, an Interrail Pass for Sweden with a validity of 8 days would already cost €318 (€239 for youth up to 27). This would already be more expensive than the current Inlandsbanan offer, which, however, allows you to remain mobile for almost twice as long.
On the other hand, the advantage of the Interrail Pass is, of course, that you can explore the entire country flexibly and are not limited to the Inlandsbanan route network. For instance, with Interrail, you can also use Swedish SJ trains (for a €7 reservation fee per journey).
An Interrail Pass becomes particularly interesting if you want to travel longer through Sweden or all of Northern Europe. Furthermore, there are regular discount promotions for the Europe-wide Global Passes.
