The Route

Your journey begins in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. The vessel casts off at 18:00, entering the Kiel Canal the following morning. Stretching nearly 100 kilometers across Schleswig-Holstein, navigating this vital waterway offers close-up views of lush countryside, historic canal locks, and the monumental Rendsburg High Bridge.

The first port of call is the Danish island of Bornholm. Take time to wander through the picturesque fishing village of Gudhjem on the island’s northeast coast, lined with red-tiled timbered cottages and traditional smokehouses. Next is Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen, home to famous sights such as The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, and the vibrant waterfront district of Nyhavn.

The expedition continues with three dedicated days exploring Sweden’s western coastline and granite archipelagos. Calls include Marstrand, Lysekil, and Fjällbacka—serene fishing villages and nature reserves that few conventional cruise ships can reach. The final port of call brings you to Oslo, Norway, home to the Munch Museum, Vigeland Sculpture Park, and Akershus Fortress. Following a relaxing day at sea, the ship returns to Hamburg.

The Ship

Built in 2019, the Hanseatic Nature measures 138 meters in length and 22 meters in beam. The luxury expedition vessel accommodates up to 230 passengers and 175 crew members. It is equipped with Polar Class 6 (PC6)—the highest ice class rating for passenger ships—allowing it to undertake ambitious expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica. In these polar regions, passenger numbers are capped at a maximum of 199 guests.

Accommodations on board feature modern design with ample natural daylight. There are no inside cabins; all rooms are at least oceanview, with many categories featuring a private balcony. In addition to a convertible double bed, complimentary minibar, and coffee machine, each cabin is equipped with high-end binoculars and Nordic walking poles—practical amenities that prove especially useful during shore excursions.

Culinary offerings are of the highest standard, with open seating across three distinct gourmet restaurants and no fixed dining times. Guests looking to unwind after an eventful day can relax in the comprehensive spa area or on the pool deck. Wellness facilities are rounded out by an ocean-view gym with modern equipment as well as a selection of fitness classes.
