Hanoi Vietnam

Low-cost carrier Vietjet recently announced its first route to Europe: starting October 10, there will be flights twice a week with an Airbus A330 from Hanoi to Prague and back. The flight operates with a stopover in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Currently, business class is available at an attractive introductory prices: starting from €1,378 for a round-trip from Prague. One-way tickets cost about half: €692 from Prague and €687 departing from Hanoi.

However, there is a major catch (and a few smaller ones): the seats cannot be adjusted into a fully flat bed, instead remaining slightly angled in sleep mode. Additionally, there is no in-flight entertainment, no Wi-Fi, no frequent flyer miles, etc. On the other hand, you do get a generous 60 kg baggage allowance.

Availability is from October 2026 to March 2027, bookable directly on the Vietjet website. In our calendar, we have marked the cheapest dates for a maximum stay of 28 days in green. You can book through Google Flights, which will redirect you to Vietjet. Sometimes, slightly higher prices are shown on Google Flights:

As mentioned earlier, there is a stopover in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This is not ideal for sleeping, as neither flight segment lasts longer than 8 hours. It remains unclear whether you will have to briefly disembark the plane in Almaty.

The route is operated using an Airbus A330. In Business Class, it offers 12 seats in a 2-2-2 configuration. They feature a 150 cm seat pitch but unfortunately do not adjust into a fully flat bed. Instead, the angle is only about 160°, earning these kinds of seats the nickname angled flat. It could feel quite cramped, especially for taller passengers.

At least you get 60 kg of checked baggage and 18 kg of hand luggage. Additionally, meals, snacks, and drinks are included. Power outlets are also available, although there are no in-flight entertainment screens.

While there are a few reviews online, most are based on media invitations by the airline and are rather brief. The following reviews offer a better idea of what to expect:

In Hanoi, you will have access to the Song Hong Business Lounge. Whether there will be a partner lounge in Prague remains to be seen. You can find the current list here.

The map is for illustrative purposes. It remains unclear whether the route will fly through Russian airspace.

It is unclear how long these prices will remain valid. Availability is open for travel from October 2026 to March 2027. There is no minimum stay requirement, meaning cheap one-way tickets are also bookable.

Tickets can be rebooked “fee-free,” meaning you only pay the price difference between the original and the new ticket. Technically, cancellations are also permitted, but you will likely only receive a credit voucher for future Vietjet flights (valid for 2 years).

You can find cheap dates using our calendar above or via Google Flights. While Google Flights initially displays prices from €1,451, the flights are actually bookable directly on the Vietjet website from €1,378.01.

Miles

Vietjet operates its own frequent flyer program called SkyJoy. Information about it is relatively sparse.

According to our calculations (2 points per 10,000 VND in Business), you should earn around 6,600 miles for these tickets. Based on the source, this should be enough for a 1-to-2-hour award flight within Asia. However, the value is quite limited since a cash ticket for a short route like Saigon to Bangkok can cost as little as €18 in base fare, with the remaining €55 being taxes and fees, which you would still have to cover on an award ticket.

To put it short: registering for the frequent flyer program is hardly worth it unless you plan on flying with Vietjet several times a year.

Information & Tips for Hanoi

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, offers a blend of historical sites, chaotic street life, and traditional culture. Popular places to visit include the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Like the rest of Vietnam, the currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND), and travel costs are generally low—street food, local transport, and entrance fees are budget-friendly. The weather has more variation than the south, with hot, rainy summers from May to September and cooler, drier winters, especially from December to February.
