This offer is only valid if your Finnair Plus account was created before June 12, 2026, and currently holds a balance of at least 50 Avios.
You can transfer these Avios at a 1:1 ratio to the British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, or Qatar Privilege Club. Therefore, even if you do not find suitable options directly with Finnair, you can still benefit from other sweet spots in the Avios world.

However, the page states: “All transactions are made in euros regardless of the currency selected”. This disclaimer likely only applies to physical items in the Finnair Shop, not to Avios. British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways, and also Finnair have increased award flight prices multiple times without prior notice. The sweet spots listed below are correct as of June 16, 2026, but can change at any time. We only recommend buying Avios if you plan to redeem them in the near future.
Buy Avios with a 40% Discount at Finnair Plus
This 40% discount promotion runs from June 16 to June 19, 2026 (Helsinki local time, which is 22:59 CET).

Additionally, you need at least 50 Avios in your account. If you do not meet this requirement, you can easily transfer the minimum required amount from Iberia or British Airways.
The discount tier and unit price vary depending on the volume purchased. The value becomes particularly notable when purchasing 100,000 Avios or more. When paying in Euros, the prices are as follows:
- 1,000 to 4,000 Avios: no discount
- 5,000 to 19,000 Avios: 25% discount (2.03 – 1.65 cpm)
- 20,000 to 49,000 Avios: 30% discount (1.54 cpm)
- 50,000 to 84,000 Avios: 35% discount (1.43 cpm)
- 85,000 to 99,000 Avios: 40% discount (1.32 cpm)
- 100,000 to 200,000 Avios: 40% discount (1.26 cpm)
Pay close attention to the pricing brackets when purchasing miles. For example, the price for 100,000 Avios (€1,260) is lower than for 99,000 Avios (€1,307). Choosing the latter option would therefore make little sense.
You can buy a maximum of 200,000 Avios for €2,520 – or JP¥400,080 (~€2,150) when paying in Yen. This is also the maximum limit of purchased points allowed per calendar year, per Finnair account.
According to Finnair, the Avios will be credited within 1 to 3 days. Once credited, you can use them directly for award flights, cabin upgrades, and more via Finnair Plus, or transfer them to another participating mileage program:
Editor’s Note: Avios are the most flexible loyalty program currency, as you can transfer them freely between four major (and some minor) frequent flyer programs. As always, buying any award flight currency is only advisable have a redemption option in mind.

When do Avios expire?
Expiration rules depend on which frequent flyer program the Avios are in. Generally, all Avios remain valid indefinitely as long as you earn or redeem at least one mile every 18 to 36 months:
- Finnair Plus: Valid indefinitely with at least 1 activity every 18 months
- BA Executive Club: Valid indefinitely with at least 1 activity every 36 months
- Iberia Plus: Valid indefinitely with at least 1 activity every 36 months
- Qatar Privilege Club: Valid indefinitely with at least 1 activity every 36 months
Our Assessment
Personally, we value Avios at around one euro cent each. If you have a specific award redemption in mind, purchasing them at 1.26 cents can still be highly beneficial. However, due to ongoing devaluations, we advise against hoarding large amounts of Avios without a short-term use case.
