ICE train in Hamburg

Deutsche Bahn has introduced a new ticket category today as part of its saver fares from domestic trains in Germany. During an initial test phase, which lasts until mid-September 2026, you can book particularly cheap tickets for domestic long-distance travel (IC/ICE/ECE) every Saturday and Sunday. The railway company is providing a limited contingent of last-minute tickets starting at €6.99 for the following week (traveling Monday to Sunday).

Holders of a BahnCard 25 or 50 receive an additional 25% discount on all Super Saver fares. You can book these affordable tickets online or via the DB Navigator app.

Tip

The new quotas apparently unlock exactly at midnight every Saturday. Depending on the route, they may sell out quickly. For the coming weeks, we recommend booking as early as possible.

Info

Keep in mind that the Super Saver (Super Sparpreis) fare cannot be canceled or rebooked. However, you have the option to use the “instant cancellation” feature within 3 hours of purchase. In this case, you will receive a full refund of the purchase amount without any deductions.

Conclusion

Deutsche Bahn has already been offering saver fares from €6.99 on short routes for some time, which can also be booked well in advance. In principle, it remains recommended to book as early as possible.

The new ticket category Super Saver Last Minute primarily appeals to people who want to travel on short notice within the next few days and can now benefit from cheaper prices thanks to the additional quotas. It is also worth noting that ticket prices have decreased on some popular travel days (such as Fridays) for certain routes. However, passengers should remain flexible and consider traveling during off-peak hours if necessary.
