The Route
The cruise begins in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires. Arriving a few days early is recommended to adjust to the time difference and explore the city before embarkation. The ship sets sail in the evening on day one.
The first port of call is Montevideo, Uruguay, known for its 22-kilometer Rambla waterfront promenade, colonial old town, and historic Palacio Salvo. The voyage continues to Puerto Madryn, the gateway to the UNESCO-listed Valdés Peninsula—renowned as a premier whale-watching location between September and December.
Following two sea days, the ship reaches Punta Arenas, Chile. From the Mirador Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city rooftops and the Strait of Magellan. Shore excursions visit the Isla Magdalena nature reserve, home to over 120,000 Magellanic penguins.
Next, the Costa Favolosa docks overnight in Ushuaia. Highlights include Tierra del Fuego National Park—featuring subantarctic forests, peat bogs, and coastal fjords—or catamaran boat tours along the Beagle Channel.
After a brief technical and port call in Puerto Williams (the world’s southernmost settlement), the ship heads to Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Sights include Gypsy Cove, where Magellanic penguins nest in the dunes, and the Historic Dockyard Museum.
The final stop is Punta del Este, Uruguay, located near Isla de Lobos, which hosts one of South America’s largest sea lion colonies. The town is also famous for the iconic hand sculpture, Los Dedos, on Brava Beach. After two weeks, the cruise concludes back in Buenos Aires.

The Ship
The Costa Favolosa (Concordia-class) was built in 2011 and was last renovated in 2018. It is 290 meters long and 32 meters wide. The ship has capacity for up to 3,800 passengers and 1,100 crew members. It features “Cold Ironing,” a shoreside power system that allows the ship to turn off its engines while in port to reduce emissions.
Onboard, you will find 4 swimming pools (including one with a retractable glass roof) and 5 whirlpools. Entertainment options include a theater, casino, cinema, and a 6,000-square-meter wellness area with a sauna and Turkish steam bath.
The ship features 7 restaurants. The buffet and main restaurants are included in your fare. Water dispensers, coffee, and tea are available for free during breakfast in the buffet area.
The main onboard languages are Italian and English, and the onboard currency is the Euro.

The cruise begins and ends in Buenos Aires. Commercial scheduled flights for December 2027 are typically published roughly 10 to 12 months in advance. Round-trip flights from Europe to Buenos Aires should be budgeted at around €900 to €1,100 in economy class.
