Costa Smeralda

Every day of the week, the routine of Travel-Dealz editors begins with combing through countless offers and suggesting them to our colleagues. After evaluating them, only the best deals make it on our homepage and into our newsletter. In this post, we want to shine a light on offers that were discussed, but ultimately disregarded. But just because we didn’t feel they would be interesting for a broader audience, it doesn’t mean that some people won’t cherish them.

Info

In this section, you can’t expect our usual service – we will give one example for each deal. We can only give hints about details like availability, travel period, other origins/destinations or fare rules.

Hard Rock Hotel Maldives for €333 with Transfers, Breakfast, Dinner, and Extras

LuxuryEscapes is offering an interesting deal for the Maldives. Currently, they are selling 5 nights for €1,739 (which drop to €1,567 by using our code traveldealz10). The price includes the speedboat transfers from Malé, as well as daily breakfast and dinner. Available from May to October.

Reason it wasn’t on the site: While the Hard Rock-branded hotel is definitely intriguing and the price is very attractive for the Maldives, the hotel itself is only charging €370-€390 per night on most dates. That means that this LuxuryEscapes deal only saves you a bit over 10%, which doesn’t really fulfil our criteria for considering something a deal.

Costa Smeralda: 19 Nights from Spain to Cape Town for €944 pp (€1,275 Solo)

In November, Costa is sending its huge Smeralda down to South Africa. If you board the ship in Barcelona, the 19-night cruise will merely cost you €944 pp. Solo travellers can also take advantage of this deal, paying a minor surcharge of €330 to have the cabin all to themselves. This price is only available on Travel-Dealz.

Reason it wasn’t on the site: This is a great deal which we totally would have posted. It failed to make the cut due to a technicality. This price is travel-dealz-exclusive. However, we negotiated this price with Costa Germany. That means that while you can book through us in English, most documents from Costa would be delivered to you in German. Overall, that shouldn’t be a huge problem and is well worth the savings of over €300 per person (or even ~€600 for solo travellers). But normally, if we post a deal on our English website, we expect the booking process and everything to be available in English as well.

Non-Stop Flights from Germany to New York with United & Singapore Airlines

United Airlines is selling flights from Berlin to Newark for only €346 in Spring in Autumn. In the meanwhile, Singapore Airlines is selling its tickets from Frankfurt to New York JFK for €481 (however, including 2x 23 kg of luggage).

Reason it wasn’t on the site: These may be attractive deals if you live in Poland (for Berlin) or BeNeLux (for Frankfurt), but overall, the biggest target audience is Germans. And they were already served both deals on our German site. So the target audience just seemed a bit too limited.

AIDA: 14 Nights Scandinavia & Western Europe from Hamburg for €1,145 pp

German cruise line AIDA has planned a few interesting cruises, departing from Hamburg. Instead of having to decide if you prefer doing a Scandinavia cruise or a Western Europe cruise, this itinerary combines both destinations, getting you to Kristiansand, Oslo, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Southampton, and Le Havre for €1,145 per person. A (much-better-looking) outside cabin costs €1,465 per person.

Reason it wasn’t on the site: While the route is interesting and the ship is very modern, AIDA is very German-heavy. If that’s not a problem for you, great. But we could imagine 2 weeks to be a long time to spend on a ship where most people around you are German, if you don’t speak German.
