- Water, coffee, and tea during breakfast; filtered tap water in the buffet during operating hours
- All onboard crew gratuities and service charges

The Route (Sample: November 2, 2026 Departure from Savona)
The crossing sets sail from Savona in northwestern Italy, calling first at Barcelona. After a relaxing sea day, you reach Andalusia with stops in historic Málaga (famous for the Moorish Alcazaba and the Picasso Museum) and Cádiz, one of Europe’s oldest coastal settlements.
Next is Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, easily explored on foot or aboard the historic Tram 28. From mainland Europe, the ship heads south into warmer waters, calling at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
After two days cruising south across the Atlantic, the Costa Diadema docks in Mindelo on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, known for its colorful Portuguese colonial squares and lively Creole music scene. Four peaceful days at sea follow as you cross the Equator toward South America.
Your first landfall in Brazil is Maceió, famous for emerald-green city beaches and offshore natural tidal pools. The next port is Salvador da Bahia, where the UNESCO-listed Pelourinho district dazzles with pastel colonial mansions and baroque churches. Following a final sea day, the 20-night voyage culminates with an iconic morning arrival into the harbor of Rio de Janeiro beneath Sugarloaf Mountain.

The Ship
Delivered in 2014 by Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, the Costa Diadema long served as the flagship of the Costa fleet. Measuring 306 meters in length and 37 meters in width with a gross tonnage of 132,500 GT, the ship accommodates up to 4,947 guests across 14 passenger decks, served by approximately 1,250 crew members.
One of the ship’s defining architectural highlights is its 500-meter open-air promenade on Deck 5—one of the widest at sea—lined with outdoor dining terraces, bars, and whirlpools overlooking the ocean. For recreation, the ship offers three swimming pools (including a central Lido pool with a retractable all-weather glass roof), eight whirlpools, a multi-story theater, a casino, and an outdoor jogging track.
Wellness enthusiasts can visit the expansive three-level Samsara Spa spanning roughly 6,500 m², which features a thalassotherapy pool, aromatic Turkish baths, Finnish saunas, a solarium, and dedicated relaxation rooms.
Dining venues range from the grand multi-course main dining rooms (Fiorentino and Adularia) and the extensive Corona Blu buffet to specialty concepts bookable for a modest fee, such as the authentic Pummid’Oro Pizzeria, a Japanese Teppanyaki grill, the Sushino bistro, and the gourmet restaurant Archipelago featuring menus designed by Michelin-starred chefs.
The onboard atmosphere is vibrant and international, with services and entertainment conducted in Italian, English, German, French, and Spanish. The onboard currency on European and transatlantic itineraries is the Euro (EUR).
