The Route
Your cruise begins in San Juan. The capital of Puerto Rico is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and many of its historic sights can easily be explored on foot. The old town is known for its colorful colonial buildings and blue cobblestone streets. The ship departs the port in the early evening and reaches the island of St. Maarten the following day.
An excursion to Maho Beach is highly recommended while there. It is world-famous for planes landing at low altitudes directly over the beach. The beach is about a 30 to 40-minute drive from the port. Front Street is also worth visiting for its numerous shopping opportunities. Alternatively, you can take an island tour covering both the Dutch and French sides of the island.
Following this, the transatlantic crossing begins with a total of eight consecutive sea days. The Celebrity Constellation will then dock in Tangier, Morocco. The port is located right at the foot of the historic old town, making it easy to get around on foot. Among other sights, you can explore the Medina, a labyrinth of narrow streets. Located just outside the city center is Cape Spartel, the northwesternmost point of Africa, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. The final stop is Málaga in southern Spain, before the journey ends after 13 nights in Barcelona.

Most Europeans need an electronic system for travel authorization (ESTA) to enter the USA for up to 90 days. This costs US$40 (~€35) and you should apply for it a couple of days before your trip, at the latest.
There are some cases where you cannot apply for an ESTA, e.g. if you’ve been to Cuba since 2021 or to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea since March 2011. In those cases, you’ll need to get a visa from a US embassy or consulate, which can take multiple weeks.
The Ship
Although the Celebrity Constellation is over 20 years old, it is hard to tell. The ship was significantly enhanced in 2013 with Solstice-class features and underwent a further extensive renovation in the spring of 2024. Built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in St. Nazaire, France, it was designed as a luxury ship ahead of its time. As a result, the cabins remain highly competitive with much newer vessels.
The ship’s technical design, featuring electric pods instead of a traditional shaft drive and stabilizers, ensures a remarkably smooth and quiet journey.
