We have very often presented you with sample round-the-world itineraries for under €1,000. While they are always pretty cool, they come with some problems. The travel periods are usually very limited, and you have to take the cities that we selected, though your interests may lie elsewhere.

That’s why this time we took a different approach. We’ve compiled a list of many attractive one-way tickets, and are giving you the tools to create your own round-the-world trip, according to your personal interests. And for those, who are not up to the task, we’ve still included two example routings in the end.

To give you a little taste of what’s coming, here’s a map displaying the cities that our one-way deals cover:

From Europe

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from Europe:

Prague – Ahmedabad for €154 with Azerbaijan Airlines (€204 with lugagge)

We begin our list with a rather unknown airline and destination. Azerbaijan Airlines is currently offering cheap one-way tickets from Prague to Ahmedabad – the most popolous city in the Indian state of Gujarat. The two 4-hour flights via Baku merely cost €154. Checked luggage adds another €50 to the price tag.

Dublin – Halifax for €188 with WestJet (€254 with Luggage)

If you prefer to fly in the other direction, WestJet will get you non-stop from Dublin to Halifax for only €188. The flight takes around 6 hours. If you wish to add a piece of checked luggage to the booking, you’ll have to pay €254.

Paris – New York for €204 with French Bee (€262 with Luggage)

A similar option, but a bit more to the south and 2 hours longer. New York is a bucket list destination for many, and French Bee will get you there, non-stop from Paris, for only €204. With checked luggage, the price rises to €262. There’s very good availability for this deal.

Madrid – Santa Cruz de la Sierra & Bogotá for €217 with Avianca (€314 with Luggage)

If you intend to fly from Europe to South America, Avianca offers the cheapest flights. Non-stop flights from Madrid to Colombia cost only €251. Interestingly, you can add a connecting flight to Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia and end up paying even less, the price dropping to merely €217. The price includes 10 kg of hand luggage. Sadly, adding 23 kg of checked luggage increases the price by almost €100.

Madrid – Sao Paulo for €274 with ITA (€372 with Luggage)

Another option to get from Europe to South America is flying with ITA. If you want, you can even add 19-hour layover in Rome on your way to Sao Paulo and check off another interesting city from your bucket list. The ticket includes 8 kg of hand luggage. Sadly, adding 23 kg of checked luggage increases the price to €372.

London – Cape Town for €238 with Norse Atlantic (€269 with Luggage)

There’s also a cheap option for flying from Europe to South Africa. Departing from London Gatwick, Norse Atlantic will fly you non-stop to Cape Town for only €236. Adding a piece of checked luggage to the 11-hour flight increases the price by €34. Sadly, the cheapest tickets are only available in May.

Another long one-way option departing from London is China Eastern’s flights to Hong Kong. If you want, you can even stay up to 23 hours in Shanghai on your way, checking another popular destination off your bucket list. The ticket only costs €261, including checked luggage.

London – Melbourne for €388 with Air China

If you want to cross the entire planet in one go, Air China has you covered. For only €388, including luggage, they’ll fly you all the way from London to Melbourne. You can also spend up to 11 hours in Beijing on the way, crossing e.g. the Great Wall of China off your bucket list on the way to Australia.

From North America

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from North America:

Halifax – Lima for €145 with United (€190 with Luggage)

Our first one-way deal from North America will fly you down to Lima, the capital of Peru. Starting from Halifax, United will sell you the total of 10 hours of flight time for only €145. Star Alliance Gold member get free luggage, all others need to pay €45 more for 23 kg of checked luggage. It’s probably a good idea to add a 22-hour layover in New York on the way, to get a good glimpse of that city before flying on. Sadly, the cheapest price is only available in early June.

Halifax – Calgary – Tokyo for €384 with WestJet

You can also fly westwards from Halifax, all the way to Tokyo – the capital and most populous city of Japan. This is a WestJet deal via Calgary. The total of 16 hours of flight time cost only €384, including luggage. There’s good availability for this deal.

Los Angeles – London for €156 with Norse Atlantic (€190 with Luggage)

The best option for flying from North America to Europe is booking the North Atlantic flights from Los Angeles to London. The flight takes a bit over 10 hours and only costs €156. Adding 23 kg of checked luggage increases the price by €34.

From Asia

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from Asia:

Tokyo – Vancouver for €169 with Zipair (€215 with Luggage)

Zipair is an airline from Tokyo that very often sells its flights at a very attractive price. Their best transatlantic offer has you flying to the city of Vancouver for only €169. If you wish to travel with more than a carry-on, you’ll pay €215 for a ticket that includes 30 kg of luggage. The flight is non-stop and takes a bit under 9 hours. Sadly, the cheapest price is only available in September.

Tokyo – Seoul – Barcelona/Rome/Paris for €297 with T’Way Air

If you want to fly from Tokyo to Europe instead of North America, T’Way Air is the best option. Not only is the price cheap, costing €297 – including luggage. Another benefit is that you’ll have a layover of up to 21 hours in Seoul, letting you check off the Korean capital from your bucket list. 20 hours may not do Seoul justice, but it sure is enough for you to get a quick impression. This deal works to three European destinations: Barcelona, Rome, and Paris.

The best one-way deal from Southeast Asia is offered by Norse Atlantic. They’ll fly you 13 hours non-stop from Bangkok to London for only €183. Adding 23 kg of luggage increases the price by €34.

Mumbai – Seattle for €315 with Singapore Airlines

Departing from South Asia, the most attractive option is flying to Seattle with Singapore Airlines. You can even add a 13-hour layover in Singapore and thus add yet another city to your world tour. It’s a 5-hour flight, followed by a 14-hour flight to the American West Coast. In total, it costs only €315, including luggage.

Hong Kong – Cape Town for €389 with Ethiopian

If you want to fly from Asia to Africa, Ethiopian Airlines has an attractive offer. From Hong Kong, you’ll fly over 10 hours to Addis Ababa and then fly another 6 hours to Cape Town. The Star Alliance member charges €389 for the entire trip, including luggage. There’s very good availability for this deal.

From Oceania

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from Oceania:

Perth – Ho Chi Minh City for €119 with VietJet (€124 with Luggage)

The cheapest intercontinental flights from Australia get you to Asia, and amongst them, VietJet’s non-stop flights from Perth to Ho Chi Minh City stand out. Not only is €119 a great price for 6h30 flights, but the luggage surcharge is only a laughable €5.

Melbourne – Kuala Lumpur – London for €375 with Air Asia (€473 with Luggage)

This is definitely not the most comfortable option in this article, but it’s the cheapest to get from Australia all the way to Europe. Air Asia is selling tickets from Melbourne to London Gatwick for only €375. First, you’ll be almost 9 hours on a flight to Kuala Lumpur, where you’ll have 10 hours to get a glimpse of the city. Then come 15 hours in a 3-3-3 A330, with a technical stop in Bahrain on the way. Adding 20 kg of checked luggage increases the price by almost €100. On the bright side: there’s good availability for this deal.

From Africa

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from Africa:

Cape Town – London for €179 with Norse Atlantic (€213 with Luggage)

Yet again, we stumble across an offer by Norse Atlantic. This time, they’ll fly you non-stop from Cape Town to London. Spending 12 hours in their Boeing 787 will only cost you €179. Your 23 kg luggage only pays €34 for the flight.

Nairobi – Mumbai for €215 with IndiGo

If you don’t want to fly back to Europe from Africa, your next-best option is flying to India. IndiGo’s 6-hour flights from Nairobi to Mumbai cost €215, including luggage. There’s good availability at this price.

Johannesburg – Mumbai for €218 with Air Tanzania

You can also fly to Mumbai from Johannesburg. In that case, you’d be flying with Air Tanzania – a rather unknown airline. It’s a 3h30 flight to Dar Es Salaam, followed by 5h30 to Mumbai. The airline’s economy class is said to be quite good, and luggage is directly included in the €218 price.

From South America

These are some of the most attractive one-way deals from South America:

Sao Paulo – Johannesburg for €401 with Angola Airlines

If you want to cross the Atlantic from South America, TAAG from Angola has an interesting offer. For €401, they’ll fly you from São Paulo to Johannesburg, including luggage. You can either opt for a short layover in Luanda, or extend the whole thing, so that you have up to 11 hours there, and you can even add a second layover in Cape Town of up to 21 hours if you want.

Lima/Santiago – New York Starting at €196 with Avianca (€281 with Luggage)

If you’re looking for a cheap way to get from South America to North America, Avianca is usually a good option. For a flight to New York, you’ll usually pay around €200 from cities in the northern half of the continent, such as Lima. From the southern half, prices are at around €300, e.g. from Santiago de Chile. Sadly, luggage comes at a hefty surcharge of ~€85, even with Star Alliance Gold status. On some dates, you can add a 10-hour layover in Bogotá, if you want to explore the Colombian capital on the way.

Two Example Routings

While we’ve given you a bunch of one-way tickets, piecing them together is not so easy, as not all tickets are available in the same travel periods. The month with best availability overall seems to be September. We’ve put together two example routings, as to give you an idea of what such a trip could look like

Option 1: India & US West Coast within 10 Days for €817

Our first option might be quite attractive for people who don’t have much time. The whole trip only takes 10 days, and gets you to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Seattle, Los Angeles, and London. The total price is only €817, and adding luggage only increases the total price by less than €120.

Option 2: New York, Halifax & 2 Weeks in Japan (from/to Paris)

This is an itinerary for those with a bit more time and those who like Japan. First, you’d fly from Paris to New York, then head over to Halifax in Canada. From there, you fly to Tokyo and will stay in Japan for 2 weeks, exploring the country (e.g. using a rail pass). You then get 19 hours in Seoul before flying back to Paris. The flight tickets cost €1,068. Luggage surcharges are minimal, amounting to less than €90 total.
