Feeder flights between Europe/Turkey and Baku (approx. 2 to 4 hours) are operated by Airbus A320 family aircraft featuring recliner seats in a 2-2 configuration. Because of flight timing, the outbound journey requires an overnight layover in Baku of roughly 11 to 18 hours (an overnight stay is not required on the return journey). Formal stopovers exceeding 24 hours are not permitted under this fare.

The long-haul leg between Baku and Beijing is flown by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner equipped with fully lie-flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration (similar to LOT Polish Airlines). While direct aisle access isn’t available from every seat, footwells are wide and open. You can read an in-depth review of the product on Travel on Points.

Visa & Entry Requirements

China: Citizens of numerous European nations can currently enter Mainland China visa-free for tourism stays of up to 30 days. Verify the latest bilateral eligibility rules prior to departure.

Azerbaijan: If you leave Baku airport during your overnight layover (recommended), an ASAN eVisa is required for most nationalities, costing approximately $26 USD (~€24).

Search & Book

The fare rules do not specify an expiration date. Discounted inventory is available for departures between November 2026 and February 2027 with no minimum stay required.

You can locate available dates using Google Flights. Note that Google Flights occasionally shows price spikes even when seats remain open. Because AZAL’s own booking engine frequently struggles to display connecting itineraries, booking via online travel agencies on Skyscanner is often the most reliable method.

Miles & Points

Azerbaijan Airlines is not a member of any major global airline alliance. Mileage credit is only possible through the airline’s proprietary frequent flyer program, AZAL Miles.
