London Big Ben

After a long hiatus, the low-cost carrier AirAsia is venturing back to Europe. Starting June 2026, scheduled flights from Kuala Lumpur via Bahrain to London Gatwick are planned. To celebrate the launch, one-way tickets from Kuala Lumpur are currently available starting at just €131 (~MYR 607). It should be noted that AirAsia has a somewhat poor reputation regarding reliability in its home market.

As standard, 7 kg of carry-on baggage is included, but no checked luggage, meals, blankets, etc. A 20 kg piece of checked luggage can be added starting at €49, and an additional 7 kg of carry-on starts at €18. Alternatively, you can choose the Value bundle for €62, which includes 20 kg of luggage, a meal, and seat selection.

These prices are available from June to November. Use the following form to book your flights directly with AirAsia with departures for less than €140:

The flights are scheduled to use Airbus A330 aircraft with a particularly tight 3-3-3 seating arrangement, compared to the 2-4-2 industry standard. This means the seats are unusually narrow (40 cm), and the seat pitch is modest at 76 cm. In the medium term, the route is expected to transition to Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

The total travel time is approximately 16 hours and 30 minutes. This includes a nearly two-hour layover in Manama. We cannot confirm at this time whether you will be required to deplane during the stop.

Visa Info

Most Europeans can travel to Malaysia for up to 90 days without a visa.

Don’t forget the ETA for the UK. It currently costs £16, increasing to £20 at the end of February. While a pure airside transit is theoretically possible without an ETA, we wouldn’t recommend risking it if traveling on separate tickets.
