With the A-Rosa Riva from A-Rosa, you can embark on a festive river cruise in November. The journey takes you from Passau with stops in Vienna, Dürnstein, Melk, and Linz. The current price of €75 per night for an outside cabin is a good offer for a Danube route.
You can currently book a 4-night cruise in an outside cabin starting from just €298 per person. Higher cabin categories and dates in December are also available at competitive rates.
Everything aboard A-Rosa ships is in German, including announcements, menus, activities, and entertainment, with limited English support. We decided to publish this deal nonetheless, as it’s not completely unusual to be surrounded by German while travelling within two German-speaking countries. The A-Rosa website often defaults to German and may not switch languages reliably, so use a browser with built-in translation to auto-translate the page to your preferred language.

The cruise price includes full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) featuring light Mediterranean cuisine and regional specialties. Use of most onboard facilities, such as the sauna, gym, and heated outdoor pool, is also included. Gratuities are not included in the total price. While tipping is voluntary, the cruise line recommends €5–10 per person per night to reward good service.
Editor’s Note: A great opportunity to visit the Christmas markets without having to worry about changing hotels or trains every day.
Route
Your journey begins in Passau. Known as the “Three-Rivers City”, Passau is where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. We recommend arriving early to visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral or the Niedernburg Abbey before the ship departs at 16:00.
The core of the itinerary features the Austrian capital, Vienna, where you can explore the Belvedere Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Prater. The following day offers a scenic double-stop in the Wachau Valley (Dürnstein and Melk), followed by a visit to Linz, where you should definitely try a slice of the famous Linzer Torte.
After four nights of exploring the cultural highlights along the Danube, the ship returns to Passau, where you will disembark in the morning.
